What’s On: National Tea Day 2017
| 21 Apr

It’s officially the celebration of the UK’s favourite beverage, tea – 165 million cups will be consumed today! Here’s what’s on for National Tea Day and why tea is so important to your coffee shop or restaurant.

National Tea Day will take place on 21st April 2017 with thousands of individuals, tearooms and coffee shops celebrating nationwide. This year, tea lovers can celebrate the nation’s favourite beverage at The National Tea Day Festival, held at Kensington Roof Gardens in London.

The National Tea Day Festival will be open to guests from 10:30am to 4pm. Among the many activities at the event, guests can sample speciality tea blends, participate in baking masterclasses and enjoy watching tea dances. Tickets to the event cost £5 with all proceeds going to charity.

The Rise of Tea and Cheese

Tea and cheese are fast-becoming companions, similar to the concept of wine and food pairings, according to experts. The success behind the unusual pairing is due to the compatibility of flavour notes. The creaminess of cheese compliments the bitterness of tea to create a ‘third flavour’ when consumed together, revealing a completely new tea experience.

As tea and cheese are available in a range of flavours and strengths, there are endless combinations to entice the senses and offer something completely different to make your establishment stand out.

The Versatility of Tea

There are several ways that tea can transform your coffee shop or restaurant, all thanks to its versatility.

Whilst tea is mostly consumed as a hot beverage, it can also be used as an ingredient in both food and other drinks. Tea has an expansive selection of flavour profiles that can enhance and compliment both sweet and savoury items on your menu. Whether this may be cakes, pastries or even bread rolls, the opportunity is there to offer your customers something new.
