Christmas Window Display for Your Coffee Shop
Team Offbeat | 28 Nov

In a bid to lure us in, year-on-year, retailers try to outdo one another with their Christmas window displays. We check out the best in London and explore ways in which you can get your coffee shop windows looking festive.

This year, Selfridges has taken a futuristic approach with ‘A Christmas For Modern Times’. The collaboration of design, fashion, architecture, technology, lighting and theatre utilises a futuristic combination of neon lights, icy colours and reflective mirrors. Santa even wears a metallic purple suit and rides a scooter!

Juxtaposed with a softer narrative, each window display is a symbolic representation of a well-known fairytale. Representing Rapunzel and in collaboration with Simone Rocha, oversized pearl hair slides weave around giant hair strands. In a separate display, a dramatic Christian Siriano gown depicts Cinderella’s ballgown with a window graphic reading, “The clock struck 12 but she carried on raving.”

Reimagining traditional themes in an interplay of old and new, the concept reflects on changing times yet the Christmas message remains the same.

Fortnum & Mason

With a more traditional take on Christmas, Fortnum & Mason celebrates its history by paying homage to Edward Bawden’s 1950s Christmas illustrations. Giving customers an insight into life behind the scenes, a host of festive cats in red jackets line the windows. The cats are featured in eight moving displays that tell the production line story, from the making of mince pies to F&M’s world-famous Christmas hampers.

Complete with spinning gold cogs, detailed pipes and whirring machinery, the whimsical and nostalgic display celebrates Fortnum & Mason’s heritage, craftsmanship and quality.

Whether taking a step into the future or a walk down memory lane, Christmas is the perfect time to get creative with your window display and engage with your customers. Invite passers by to come into your shop with intriguing designs and spread some joy this Christmas!
