A Look back at 2017’s Instagram Trends
Team Offbeat | 21 Dec

Over the past year, Instagram has highlighted many new trends within the hospitality sector. From the colour of the moment to the trendiest new foods, we take a look back at what Londoners have been raving about!

Millennial Pink

The hottest colour on the block this year was Millennial Pink. A soft fusion of salmon pink and rose, the shade was everywhere. From pink pub walls to blushing cocktails and rouged doughnuts, everybody fell in love with the colour. Palm Vaults in Hackney was one coffee shop who took the colour to the extreme, pairing it with a fresh shade of green for instant chic, laidback, Californian vibes.

Play

Londoners went mad for games in 2017. From the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course to indoor crazy golf, we loved sharing a cocktail with friends and playing long into the early hours. A new London bar, Flight Club, has modernised the classic British pub game of darts, aiming it at a new audience for a fun and trendy night out. Based in Shoreditch, the edgy, industrial-style bar designed by the same company who designed Dishoom, serves craft ales, cocktails and pizza. Gone are the days of a quiet drink down the local boozer!

Hybrid Food

There was no stopping the hybrid food this year. Whether merging a doughnut with a croissant and naming it a ‘Cronut’ or combining ice-cream and an eclair for an ‘Iceclair’, Londoners were all over it! A sucker for a fad, the excitement and buzz of trying something unique and sometimes inedible, was enough to rope us all in for a moment. We even ate doughnut sandwiches filled with fried chicken! Hopefully this crazy trend doesn’t hang around into 2018 – I think we’re over it!

What will be the next big thing? Stay tuned in 2018 to keep up-to-date with all the latest trends in London.
